Extra Sparring at the Huvudsta Winter Site (outdoors)

Please come and join Ivan and me for some extra sparring at our Winter Season Outdoors Longsword Brandishing Site (WSOLBS) in Huvudsta.

For this event, please observe the following:
• Every club member or friends of such are invited.
• This event has no scheduled instructors. It is intended to accomodate a need for extra sparring.
• If you want to spar, please bring the equipment to do so.
• No loan gear will be provided by the club. Please ensure to have the gear You need on hand. Saying that You need to borrow may not be enough.
• Unless You want to participate in the sparring You may practice at judging bouts or simply watch the sparring as entertainment.
• We won’t have access to running water or dressing rooms at this training site.
• This site has lighting and is fenced.


We hope to see many of you there.

Jag tar med min gambeson en sista gång för utlåning. Efter detta kommer jag inte att låna ut den mer.

Är det bara för att du vet att jag kommer köpa nytt, eller för att jag behandlat den så illa?

Detta är mer en principfråga än en följd av någon händelse. Alla är helt enkelt inte lika generösa som Serge. Några av oss har lånat ut vår utrustning för att hjälpa nybörjare att komma igång någon enstaka gång, men jag tycker inte att det är en bra princip att sätta i system, dvs. att samma medlemmar alltid ska förse klubben med låneutsustning. Det var inte specifikt combat-rullningarna jag tänkte på. De syntes knappt efteråt.
I princip tycker jag att medlemmar bör ha sitt eget kroppsskydd för långsvärdssparring, dels av följande skäl:

• Hygien
• För hård sparring är det viktigt att kroppsskydd har rätt passform
• Eventuella materielkostnader bärs av utlånaren, därav måste det vara frivilligt att låna ut något

This is more a matter of principle than a consequence of any event. All are simply not as generous as Serge. Some of us have lent our equipment to help beginners get started occasionally, but I do not think it is a good principle to put into system, i.e. that the same members always should provide the club with loan gear. It was not specifically the combat rolls I was thinking of. They were barely noticeable afterwards.
In principle, I think the members should have their own body armor for longsword sparring, and for the following reasons:

• Hygiene
• When hard sparring is body armor with the right fit is important
• Any material costs are borne by the lender, hence it must be voluntary to lend any
